Halloween’s just around the corner. Lots of people are busy preparing for the holiday, stocking up on fun-sized candy, decorating their homes, carving pumpkins, and picking out Halloween costumes. Many others have already started the celebration, watching scary movies, chowing down on candy corn, breaking teeth in caramel apples, and visiting haunted houses. At Kitty’s Flowers, our floral designs are busy creating festive Halloween designs and gifts to spread the spirit of Halloween all around the Salisbury, Laurel, Millsboro, Ocean Pines, and Berlin areas! We can’t wait to share our designs with you!
Kitty’s Favorite Halloween Flowers and Design Themes
Pumpkins and Other Seasonal Embellishments
We love arranging flowers with miniature pumpkins or inside keepsake ceramic pumpkin containers. Pumpkins are in-season and fit the Halloween theme splendidly! It’s seasonal embellishments, like the addition of pumpkins, that really make an ordinary floral arrangement feel like a Halloween design.
We love to use other seasonal decorations, too! One of our favorite festive arrangements, Ghostly Gardens, creates a miniature graveyard scene, complete with headstone and a friendly ghost. This arrangement features a spookily sparse forest of fall foliage and a variety of blooms in a seasonal palette of colors, like orange, purple, black, and green.
Sunflowers are also commonly incorporated in Halloween and fall arrangements. They’re in-season, and their colors blend beautifully into the autumn rainbow. These bright, cheerful blooms expertly lead the eye around a floral arrangement, ensuring you don’t miss a single bit of beauty.
We love dahlias of all sorts in Halloween and autumn harvest floral arrangements. Whether a bright yellow bloom, dark purple, or deep red, dahlias add fullness and interesting texture to arrangements. Their intricate, complex interweaving of petals never fails to stun.
Carnations are absolutely perfect for seasonal arrangements of all kinds. Their wide variety and richness of color can fill out any hole in a color story. Colors like purple, green, orange, yellow, and black are in high demand for Halloween flowers, and carnations can be saturated in any of these hues. They’re also beautiful in harvest arrangements with cottage red, orange, or yellow varieties.
These blooms have a unique appearance. Commonly called cock’s comb, they range from cone-like, pinnate-shaped blooms to more oddly shaped waddle-like blooms that look a bit like brains. They come in a wide variety of colors, giving us lots of choices for incorporating them into Halloween arrangements.
At first glance of one of our favorite October arrangements, Bountiful Beauty, you might think that the bright sunflowers are the real showstopper element of the design. While they’re beautiful and sunny, we especially love the dark purple celosia. They lend an otherwise fairly traditional fall arrangement of sunflowers, roses, lilies, hydrangea, tulips, berries, and leaves a quirky, feathery appearance. Their texture makes the whole arrangement unique and surprising.
These yellow cone flowers are often mistakenly called daisies, but they’re common names include black-eyed Susan and goldstrum. Rudbeckia are great for Halloween and autumn arrangements because their yellow petals range from bright and sunny to rusty-brown and coppery-red in color variegation. They pair beautifully with orange roses, cottage red carnations, and sunflowers.
