In the News: Sales for Mother’s Day 2025 are Climbing at Kitty’s Flowers

On the eve of Mother’s Day 2025, WMDT news anchor Blake Lipton stopped by Kitty’s Flowers in Salisbury, Maryland, which has been in operation since 1950. It’s the busiest time of the year for the locally-owned, independent florist, as families look to give back to the incredible mothers in their lives.

“Mother’s Day is kind of like a marathon, where as Valentine’s Day is more of a sprint, so it’s kind of more spread out with Mother’s Day than Valentine’s Day,” said Brittany Morgan, Sales Associate with Kitty’s Flowers. “Valentine’s Day is like two days of chaos, Mother’s Day is a whole week.”

Other occasions such as Teacher’s Week are also driving up sales, which means the staff at Kitty’s Flowers are in all-hands-on-deck mode for more reasons than one. Fortunately, customers know to plan ahead for this important time of year.

“People do like to order early which we really appreciate; we’ll take the late stragglers as well, but yeah it’s absolutely very busy,” said Eileen Waddell, Manager of Kitty’s Flowers. “We have trucks on the road and going out for delivery every day.”

Flower arrangements

While fresh bouquets and arrangements are the big draw for customers, Kitty’s Flowers also sells sweet treats, balloons, plants, candles, and a variety of other gifts for every mom and her personal tastes. But no matter what, the time to shop for your loved one is now.

“My advice would be get your order in as soon as possible, some of the specials we have are really pretty, but also really limited and if there is one that you really like, I would definitely say order that ASAP so it doesn’t sell out on you,” Morgan added.
